Accessible Holidays In Portugal
Portugal is one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations and with good reason. With a rich maritime history, charming villages and a warm, inviting culture, Portugal embraces tourists and gives them a very good reason to come back. Although some of the less developed cities in Portugal can be difficult to traverse if you have mobility issues, the country generally does well in accessibility.
Public transportation systems in major cities like Lisbon and Porto have been updated to better serve travellers with disabilities. Buses, trams, and trains are increasingly equipped with ramps and dedicated spaces for wheelchairs. Try to avoid the older, retro trams and buses though, as they aren’t equipped with modern accessibility features.
