Madeira

Madeira is a stunning archipelago in the Atlantic that features a verdant landscape, unique rocky terrain and a unique culture that stems from its Portuguese roots. This far-flung destination is the perfect getaway for those of us looking to enjoy the sea, sun and sand at a slower pace of life. Although much of the archipelago is steep and rocky, much of Madeira is still quite accessible for people with mobility concerns.

Madeira offers limited accessible public transportation options that are only available in the capital city, Funchal. There are minibus tours available to explore some of the more remote parts of Madeira, though, so you can still enjoy all this place has to offer on your terms.
