Over the course of 11 days, you’ll travel, accompanied by an experienced local guide, between 4 major Japanese cities and the serene, expansive countryside in between, experiencing the true variety of experiences that make up modern Japan. First, you’ll take in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of cosmopolitan Tokyo, Japan’s capital, and the 3rd biggest city on the planet. You’ll then begin your journey through the beautiful Japanese countryside, offering views of sprawling rice fields, quaint villages reminiscent of a time gone by, and towering peaks, before reaching Japan’s second city, Osaka, as well as its ancient capitals of Kyoto and Nara, a history lover’s paradise.

Tokyo Metropolis
With just over 33 million inhabitants, Tokyo ranks as the third biggest city globally, and its hustle and bustle is not to be understated. The city is split into a multitude of districts, each with their own unique culture and character. From the neon lights of Akihabara, the electronics district, to the historical Asakusa district, where centuries old temples meet towering skyscrapers, to tranquil Ūeno Park, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, Tokyo has something for every kind of traveller, and accompanied by your local guide you’ll explore everything the city has to offer.
Osaka Castle
Although the present building isn’t entirely original, owing to the fact it was partially destroyed by canon fire, the partly reconstructed, partly original Osaka Castle is a towering icon of the city, and one of the finest examples of Japanese fortifications and castles on the planet.
Nara Park
Are you an animal lover? If so you’ll love Nara Park, the tranquil park located in Nara city is home to over 1,500 wild Japanese deer, miniature deer which were once considered sacred animals. Today tourists are able to get up close to and interact with the deer, who are often curious about visitors, as well as being able to buy deer feed to give to the animals.
Historic Kyoto
Step back in time as you wander the winding streets of Kyoto, Japan’s former capital. With palaces and temples such as the world famous Golden Temple, Kyoto still has an incredibly royal feel to it, even centuries on. If you’re a foodie, enjoy some of the traditional Japanese sweets on offer from artisan shops around the city, and if you’re looking for a break explore the city’s serene green spaces and gardens. After your time in the bustling hotspots of Tokyo and Osaka, Kyoto will feel perfect for rest and relaxation.
Osaka Street Food
While every city and province in Japan has iconic street food and local cuisine, Osaka is home to some of the most delicious street food in the country. Vendors dot the streets of Osaka’s entertainment district, Dotonburi, offering local favourites, especially Takoyaki, Osaka’s most famous export, deep fried batter filled with pieces of perfectly cooked octopus. Osaka is definitely a must do for any foodie travellers!
Mount Fuji
The towering peak of Mount Fuji, Japan’s tallest mountain, dominates the countryside between Tokyo and Kyoto, attracting admirers and climbers from around the world, hoping to catch a glimpse of one of the most famous views in all of Asia, if not the world. Between your stays in Tokyo and Kyoto you’ll have an opportunity to journey to the base of the mountain and see those fantastic countryside views for yourself.

What you'll do
Welcome to Japan! Upon arrival at either Narita or Haneda International, you'll be met by your driver with a wheelchair accessible vehicle. Your driver will transfer you to your first accommodation in the heart of Tokyo's historic Asakusa District. From there you'll begin exploring, with a stop at the serene Senso-ji Temple, and time to check out the areas shops, bars and restaurants.

What you'll do
On day two in Tokyo you'll begin with a private guided tour of the city utilising Tokyo's fantastic and highly accessible public transport system, your guide will take you through this so you're prepared to use the trains on your own throughout your stay. Your sightseeing tour is entirely customisable, if you have a any must-see spots in mind, we can plan with your guide to ensure you can see as much as possible. The day's highlights might include, Edo Tokyo Museum and the Tokyo National Museum for history lovers, and Rikugien Gardens and Ueno Park for serene nature escapes. Your tour will also include tickets to the world famous Tokyo Skytree, home to 350 and 450 metre observation deck offering panoramic views of the sprawling Tokyo skyline.

What you'll do
Today your driver will take you, in a wheelchair accessible minivan, out into the Japanese countryside for a once in a lifetime clear view of Japan's highest mountain. Totally clear views of Mount Fuji are never guaranteed, less likely during the humid summer months, but if you're lucky you'll get a wonderful view from the 5th Station at 2,330 metres above sea level. After lunch in a quaint rural village you'll be taken to Lake Kawaguchiko for a lakeside view of the mountain. At the end of the day your driver will return you back to your Tokyo hotel for an evening of relaxing.

What you'll do
Today you'll get to experience one of Japan's most well known icons, the famous bullet train, or Shinkansen. Your journey will be unaccompanied but Japanese trains are highly accessible, and we will provide you with detailed guides and tailored support throughout your journey. We will provide detailed instructions including the easiest routes to ramps and lifts in the stations, and will coordinate with our local partners on the ground to ensure all access arrangements you might require run smoothly.

What you'll do
On arrival in Kyoto you'll be met by a driver with a private WAV to take you on a sightseeing tour around Japan's ancient capital. Your sightseeing tour can be tailored to your preferences to ensure you don't miss anything on your list. Top recommendations in Kyoto include Kinkakuji and Sanjusangedo temples, as well as the world famous golden temple, and the Geisha district of Gion.

What you'll do
Today you'll journey to Nara, the ruling centre of Japan between 710 and 784, even more ancient than Kyoto. The top sites you'll experience in Nara include the magnificent Todai-ji temple, Kashihara-jingu Shrine, Horyu-ji UNESCO site, and the famnous Nara Park, a sprawling city park home to thousands of miniature Japanese deer which often interract with visitors.

After a 15 minute bullet train ride to Osaka, you'll need to venture onto the subway to reach your hotel in the lively foodie district of Namba. Osaka is known as Japan's foodie capital, and in the main districts of Namba and Dotonburi vendors line the streets serving up iconic dishes to locals and tourists alike. This part of your tour doesn't include a private guide, allowing your free reign to explore the city on your own, utilising the fantastic and highly accessible public transport system linking all the major sites.

What you'll do
Our top recommendation for your time in Osaka is the towering Osaka Castle, a modern recreation of the original ancient castle which burnt down in 1665. Other highlights include Osaka Aquarium, The National Museum of Art, the quirky Instant Ramen Museum, and Universal Studios Japan theme park. Alongside exploring the sites, make sure to also enjoy some famous Osakan street food, including Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki savoury pancakes, and Kushikatsu grilled meat or vegetable skewers.

What you'll do
Today you'll take your final bullet train from Osaka direct to Tokyo. For your last two nights in Tokyo you'll be staying in a hotel in lively and modern Shinjuku, allowing you to experience a whole new side to the city. Shinjuku is home to many excellent authentic restaurants and modern shopping destinations which are perfect for some much needed retail therapy.

Today you'll be able to spend your last free day in Tokyo doing some last bits of sightseeing and exploring, catching up on anything you might have missed in Tokyo. Will you spend time hunting for the perfect souvenirs or enjoying a final bowl of authentic ramen, the day is yours to spend however you wish.
