This fantastic 7-day accessible tour takes travellers on a journey around one of the most fascinating countries in the world, and a fixture on any traveller’s bucket list, Thailand. First, you’ll experience the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, from towering temples to authentic Thai street food; you’ll do it all. Next stop is Ayutthaya, the historic capital from the 1300s, known for its spectacular temple ruins and serene atmosphere. Then it’s on to the historic city of U-Thong, the ancient lost city of Thailand, home to sites including a massive Buddha carved into the side of a cliff face, and the U Thong National Museum. Your journey will then continue on to Kanchanaburi to visit one of the prisoner of war camps, and the world-famous bridge on the River Kwai, a sobering look into one of the most significant events in war history, before concluding in Bangkok.
Highlights
Wat Pho
A sprawling 16th century Buddhist temple complex in Bangkok, one of the most culturally significant in Thailand, and most notably home to the 46 metre long golden reclining Buddha.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet
The holiest temple on the site of the ancient royal palace of Ayutthaya, Thailand’s ancient capital. This religious complex dates back to the year 1315 and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bridge Over the River Kwai
The historic and sobering site of the Burma Railway bridge in Kanchanaburi Province constructed between 1942 and 1943 at the cost of around 100,000 lives, mostly allied prisoners of war and civilian labourers. This site, while challenging to visit is a must see for any traveller, especially for history enthusiasts.
Thai Street Food
There will be many opportunities throughout the tour to hit the streets and sample the local food which Thailand is so famous for. From Pad Thai and fiery Pad Krapao to aromatic Tom Yum Khai and sweet Mango sticky rice, Thailand is a foodie’s paradise!
U-Thong Archaeology Museum
Set within the ancient city of U-Thong, the museum will offer fascinating glimpses into distant Thai history through engaging displays and centuries old artefacts recovered from the local area, a must see for any curious traveller.
Elephant's World
This sanctuary for retired elephants allows visitors to learn about and interact with some of Thailand’s most iconic animals in an ethical way which prioritises elephant welfare. There is no elephant riding, instead travellers are invited to learn more about the animals and the important role the sanctuary plays in their care and conservation, all set within the serene Thai countryside.

On arrival in Bangkok you will be taken to your hotel, the Ramada Plaza Hotel Bangkok, where you will have dinner before beginning the tour the following day. In the case of early flights this leaves lots of time for exploring the city before your tour officially kicks off.

What you'll do
Today your tour begins! You'll be exploring bustling Bangkok, from serene temples to ornate palaces, there's something for everyone. You'll start your day at Wat Pho temple complex, home to the spectacular reclining Buddha, experiencing both the temples and the nearby historical exhibition to provide more information. Next you'll move on to the Grand Palace, the ornate palatial complex that is the official residence of the Thai royal family, before visiting the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most sacred temple, located inside the palace grounds, to round off a full day of exploring.

The Wat Pho temples are accessed through a step free entrance, as a sign of respect, visitors are asked to remove their shoes, wheelchair users are able to use plastic chair covers. The Grand Palace and Temple of The Emerald Buddha complex is mostly accessible with some interior areas inaccessible except via steps.
What you'll do
After breakfast in Bangkok, you'll set off north towards historic Ayutthaya to visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park. One of the most iconic sites here is Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most significant temple in Ayutthaya, and a must see for any traveller to the region. You'll then have time for a traditional Thai lunch in a local restaurant before visiting Wat Phanan Choeng, a towering temple which is home to a huge 57 foot tall seated Buddha. After checking in at the Krungsri River Hotel, and after some rest and relaxation, you'll take to the streets and market of Ayutthaya to experience Thailand's world famous street food culture.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet is an accessible complex with well maintained level pathways making navigating easy freeing you up to enjoy the serene atmosphere stress free. The main hall and views of the seated Buddha at Wat Phanan Choeng are highly accessible, as well as the surrounding complex, which is complete with well maintained paths.
What you'll do
After breakfast you'll drive to Baan Khorng Phor Sufficiency Economy Learning Centre, where you'll learn about the local way of life in this area of Thailand. The centre teaches about local agricultural practices and culture and allows guests to get up close to local animals. You'll then visit the temples at Wat Mahathat, before enjoying a traditional lunch on the river. Your next stop will be the Arts of the Kingdom Museum, a fascinating art museum set amongst beautiful countryside, and showcasing traditional Thai art. There will then be an opportunity to enjoy a traditional Thai massage offered by expert local therapists before returning to the Krung Sri River Hotel for dinner

What you'll do
After breakfast you'll set off towards U-Thong, the ancient lost city of Thailand, where you'll experience local life and marvel at the historical wonders housed within the archaeological museum. Afterwards, there will be a chance to enjoy a traditional lunch made with local produce before setting off again. Your next stop is Kanchanaburi, where you'll take a sobering step back into history at one of Thailand's main POW cemeteries and the site of the Bridge Over the River Kwai. You'll then check into your accommodation, the fantastic Plakan Resort.

What you'll do
After breakfast you'll head to Elephant's world, a conservation focused sanctuary which allows visitors to interact with Thailand's most famous animals in an ethical way. There is no elephant riding, just a caring environment where guests can learn more about the animals and the important role the sanctuary plays in their conservation. After lunch you'll head back to the resort for a final night in Kanchanaburi.
